This is a thin section of a rare rock collected from south of Loch Duich, near the Isle of Skye, Scotland. An iron rich metamorphic rock, containing anthophyllite (or possibly grunnerite/cummingtonite, 90% sure of identification but not 100%) and garnet. More shearing subsequent to formation has 'stretched' the garnets. Highly attractive and quite unlike anything else. Recommended.
Photographs below are of the actual slide you will receive.
A small sample of the rock from which this slide was cut is also usually included, sometimes this is not possible if no offcuts are available at time of sale.
The description is provided as a guide as to what to expect, but buyers should identify the rock type and minerals for themselves. ~ Some features will require a polarising microscope to view. ~ Slides are prepared with the greatest of care, ground to the correct thickness, and covered with a glass cover slip. ~ However if you are not satisfied with any slide I will refund the purchase price if you return the slide within 7 days
